A magnetic screen needs two magnetic strips: one on the screen frame and one stuck to the window.
Both are included in every metre you order, so you do not have to work out which half you are short of.
It is the same strip supplied in the screen kits.
Order it when you are making an extra screen from a kit you have already cut, or replacing a strip that has lost its stick.
Measure the perimeter of the opening, add a little, and order that many metres.

Shipping & returns
Delivery across Canada in 5 to 7 days. It is free on orders of $60 or more, and a flat $22 below that.
You can cancel within 14 days of receiving your order without giving a reason, under regulation 20 of S.I. No. 484 of 2013, which implements the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back, and you pay the cost of returning them.
A screen cut to your own measurements is made to your specification, so regulation 13(1)(c) removes the cancellation right once we have started making it. A standard size you cut down yourself at home keeps the full right until you cut it.
If it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described we put it right at no cost to you, return postage included, under the Consumer Rights Act 2022.
Keep grit off the strip. Clean the window frame before fitting a new one.

Delivery was quick, installation was easy. The screen frames blended in well with the overall window frame. We are quite happy with the product overall.
Super fast delivery, product works as promised, magnets are strong and the adhesive plus Velcro system works like a charm on our metal frame bedroom door to outside balcony. So lovely to have it open on hot spring/summer evenings for a cross breeze without worrying about those pesky insects!
Have had one fitted to an off-grid cabin for many years, finally, it has a couple of holes. So I purchased the same again, easy to fit to existing Velcro, will keep those pests out hopefully for another couple of years.
These screens are really good quality, with a PVC top layer that snaps on, making them last much longer than the cheaper ones that just stick together with adhesive (which comes off quickly when you open the screen/window). Really happy with them, thanks
We purchased the Magnetic Flyscreen Door and found it to be superior to cheaper versions that we have tried. We had a slight issue with the product but the response from Customer Service was amazing. We recommed this product because it is stronger and closes better than other magnetic screens we've tried and it's easier to install.
The screens are of an excellent quality both in the materials and construction. The delivery time was within a week of ordering, great !
Im really impressed with the vinyl covering the magnets, they close so well. It looks as though they will clean easily if needed without taking them down.
I got white to allow best effect on the light entering my home.
Surprisingly easy to put up despite me being an older woman and not very tall - I’m delighted with my five screens. Counterintuitively I would recommend going for black screens unless you have a white outlook onto say a lighter coloured wall. Also pets negotiate them quite quickly - bug free indoors and a real sense of anti-mozzie security. Top marks
We ordered a magnetic door screen and couldn't be happier. The best feature is the self closing. This makes a world of difference for keeping the flies and mozzies out, particularly with children who don't close doors! It's a great non-permanent option for us and looks neat and tidy.
The screens for our motorhome were easy to order and I would say reasonably priced, once ordered they were on their way and arrived within 3 days of ordering which I reckon is pretty good.
They fitted the doorway perfectly, were very easy to install. They look good too.
I also ordered the bug tennis racket and it had had a good workout, that is probably a bit pricey but ordered to get the free delivery 🤣
How nice is it to actually be able to buy a simple screen for an opening the exact size that you require? Absolutely amazing that is what it is!Also for it to arrive in WA in record time. So much appreciated, from ordering to finish 5 stars well and truly deserved
As we live on the West Coast, South Island we have the dreaded sandflies by day and moths at night and screens for the windows were badly needed.
This was so easy to put together and we're really thrilled as you wouldn't even know it was there.
The very next day we ordered another one and can't wait to get that one up. Roll on summer.
User friendly website, good communication. The product was ordered and in a matter of 3 days I had received the goods. The instructions in the kitset were clear and good materials allowed for a very easy process and professional finish. Very impressed, thank you.
The perimeter of the window: twice the width plus twice the height. Add a little spare.
Can you give me an example?
A 100 cm by 150 cm window needs 5 metres, so order a bit over that.
Do I measure the area or the perimeter?
The perimeter. The strip runs around the edge of the opening, not across it.
What is it for?
It's the fixing that holds a magnetic window screen onto the window frame.
How many strips do I get per metre?
Two. Both the strip secured to the frame and the self-adhesive strip that mates with it are provided when you order, so a metre is a metre of finished fixing rather than a metre of one half of it.
Is it self-adhesive?
One of the two strips is. That is the one that goes onto the window frame.
Do I need to prepare the surface?
Wipe it clean and let it dry. The adhesive gets one attempt, so a dusty or damp frame is the usual reason a strip lifts later.
Will it stick to wood?
Yes, as long as the surface is clean, dry and not flaking.
Will it stick to uPVC and aluminium?
Yes. Those are the easiest surfaces for it.
Will it damage the frame?
It lifts away without pulling the finish with it. That is the whole reason these screens work in rented homes.
Can I use it in a rental?
Yes. Nothing is drilled and nothing is permanent.
How do I cut it?
Scissors.
How do I fit it?
Wipe the frame, peel the backing as you go, and press the strip down along its whole length rather than just at the ends.
Should I do the corners in one piece or separate lengths?
Separate lengths per side is easier and neater than trying to bend a single run around a corner.
Can I reposition it?
Lift it gently and re-press it if you catch it immediately. Once the adhesive has settled, treat the position as final.
Why buy it separately?
To build a screen from parts, to repair a run that has lifted, or to extend an existing screen.
Does it come with the screens?
The made-up magnetic screens include what they need. This is for building, repairing or extending.
My strip has come away in one corner. Do I replace all of it?
No. Replace that run. Cut a fresh length, clean the frame properly this time, and press it down.
Why did it come away?
Almost always a surface that was not clean or dry when it went on, or a strip pressed at the ends rather than along its length.
Will it lose its magnetism?
Magnetic strip does not wear out with use. What fails is the adhesive bond to the frame, which is why surface prep matters.
Can I use it on a door screen?
The magnetic screen doors use a stitched velcro strip instead. This is for window screens.
Does it work with any screen?
It works with the magnetic screens in this range. A velcro screen needs hook-and-loop tape rather than magnetic strip.
What else do I need to build a screen?
PVC frame by the metre, a corner set, mesh, and this strip.
Does it come with mesh?
No. Mesh is sold separately in three grades.
Will it rust?
Keep it dry and it is fine. It sits on the interior face of the window, out of the weather.
How do I clean it?
Wipe it with a dry cloth. Keep grit off the face so the screen keeps sitting flush.
Why does grit matter?
Anything on the face holds the screen a fraction off the strip, and that fraction is a gap running the length of the window.
Can I paint over it?
No. Painting the face would stop the screen sitting against it.
Should I order extra?
Yes, a metre or so. Corners and a mis-cut eat more than people expect.

Extra Magnetic Strip from Simple Screens Canada: the magnetic fixing for a DIY magnetic window screen, sold per metre. Every metre supplies both halves, the strip that is secured to the screen frame and the self-adhesive strip that fixes to the window frame, so no drilling is needed. It is the same strip supplied inside a magnetic window screen kit, bought separately for building an additional screen or replacing a strip whose adhesive has failed. To work out the quantity, take twice the width plus twice the height of the opening and add an allowance for the corners. Prices are in Canadian dollars and delivery is free across Canada over $60.
